In the square near Igreja de São Domingos, a memorial marks the spot where Catholics tortured and killed people who were accused of being Jewish. Known as the Lisbon Massacre, hundreds of people died here in 1506.
Portugese is a difficult language to understand. I appreciate simple signage.
This neighborhood was less charming and way more developed than Alfama.
